This problem is quite common among Vista OS with an Nvidia graphics card. The problem usually triggers when playing games or watching videos.
Before doing anything first make an Restore point so if anything goes wrong you can revert back.

Problem
The problem that I encounter is an NVLDDMKM problem along with vertical lines showing on the laptop monitor.
Solution1
Reduce the CPU performance
Goto Control panel --> System and Maintenance --> Power options -->
Choose Power saver
Solution2
Turn off time out detection
1. Regedit.
2. Navigate to: HKLMSystemCurrentControlSetControlGraphicsDrivers
3. Add the following DWORD: TdrLevel and set the value to 0.
4. Reboot.

1. Update your video card driver
Solution4
Disable TMM
Administrative tools > Task Scheduler > Scroll down till you see TMM. Double click ‘TMM’. Right click it and select disable.
Solution5
Increase the cooling system of your Computer
(use Ice bag that can be bought on Drug stores)
The result
Well the problem still occurs occationally the good thing is we can now use the laptop.
