I. Hints

1. There is a kid with a puppet talk to him and he will teach you about combos.
2. Fairy talk - When you have already build your fairy town talk to the fairies, they will give you tips.
3. Go to the Abandoned village you will be attack by a group of monsters it is perfect to practice magic combos.
4. If your still having trouble with Stoll's condition, try fishing or do not sell your old items.

II. Dragon locations

1. Shyde - Talk to the man taking a bath.
2. River - Talk to the person beside the river he will ask you many questions just answer him truthfully.
3. Lyp - There is a man walking back and fort in his boat talk to him and he will give you information about the dragon.
4. Check point - there is a man that looks like a merchant talk to him.
5. Talk to Tahran mother of Cray.

Bonus

Each time you've seen a dragon talk to it again and it will give you clues where to find the other dragons.

III. Fishing tips

1. Use high level lures to get good fish
2. You can buy the ultimate lure at the Fairy town at the item store.
3. In order for lures to be more effective use tech to attract more fish.
4. You'll see if your doing it right if a bubble pops up telling what tech you have done.
5. To target a specific fish look at the sign post. The list of fish in the post will tell you how common the fish is, and what kind of fishes live in the Fishing spot. The fish on the top of the list is the most common and the bottom fish is the rare. If your targeting a specific fish look for a Fishing spot that it is listed in a higher level. Also it is a good idea to select a lure that the other fish will not bite.
6. Some fish will require time for it to bite.
7. Some fishes are located far away, use rods with long range.
8. There is another ultimate lure that you can buy but it will only show up after finishing the game. The shop is located at the Abandoned village, if you' ve played Breath of Fire III you'll see a familiar face.
9. In fishing in BOF4 you need to keep the green line in the middle. If the line gets to low the fish can escape. If the green line gets to high the fishing line will break.
10. Holding the reel button will pull the fish to you but to make the fish come to you faster press the reel button multiple
times. Even if the fish is struggling the fish will the still be pulled. Using this will risk your fish getting of the hook to counter this press down rapidly.
11. to get a better hit synchronize your lure movement with the background music.

IV. Rider

Rider is the strongest monster in the game you can find the monster in Fou-lu's tomb to defeat him you'll need to prepare from the start of the game.

1. Level up at least level 40
2. Play the fishing game and exchange cards for powerful weapons or power ups.
3. Level up your fairy troops to the max

Battle strategy

1. Equip the strongest equipment, it would also help to equip accessories that absorbs elemental attacks or Cupid's lyre.
2. Use dodge seed to evade melee attacks. The Rider's melee attack is very strong, it is better to dodge the attack than to resist.

Note: try getting Slicer from Chompo, it is a sword with +1 to hit

3. Go to your Fairy town and put your fairies into relax this will prevent the food stock from losing to fast. Select all the fairies and put them into your troops.
4. When the battle starts change Ryu to Kaiser and put him in front. When the battle starts use double blow and follow up with Fairy charge and Fairy attack.

V. FAQ

Q: Which is the best master for may heroes?

A. Select the master which gives bonuses to your HP and defense. The other attributes can be increase buy power foods which can be exchange from Manillo.

Q: How do I Filch?

A: Filch is done automatically if the monster has an item that you don't have yet.

Q: Do I need to Filch all items for Stoll?

A: All you need to do is collect different items

VI. Troubleshooting

1. Random crashes

I seems that Bof4 is sensitive with anti-viruses, disable your anti- virus before playing the game.

Note: You may have a problem with Norton 2007 because this anti-virus only will only transfers either from the taskbar or the systray but not exit

2. Fou-lu's scene
The game stall's in the scene where Fou-lu is hit by Hex. This may be a graphics card problem, upgrade your graphics card.

1. Collect items from killed enemies and sell it to merchants.
2. Use thief’s pickpocket ability.
3. Search for mercenary jobs in town this is the best way to earn money.
4. Reputation is earned by doing good deeds.
5. Donate at least 1500 gold to the church.
6. Having a good reputation lessen ambush attack from enemies and the NPC`s will treat you nicely.
7. Do not use mage magic in town Cowled wizards will appear. Other magic’s can be use like Druid, Paladin and Assassin etc.
8. A mage magic can be use in town inside houses, Inn, etc as long as it is indoor.
9. A thief’s trap can be very useful in Baldur’s gate 2 ambush attack in town may appear in the same place so the next time place some traps where enemies usually appear. Traps in Baldur's gate 2 don't disappear unless used. (This doesn’t include random attacks)
10. Some enemies in Baldur's gate 2 needs to be converse first before the battle begins, so if you think you can't win place some traps around the enemy before talking to it. When the battle begins and the enemy moves from its origin position it will sprung the traps around it.
11. If an enemy dies with a trap you don't receive any Exp.
12. It is a good idea to check in the game play menu the rest upon until healed button. Be careful in resting outside of town enemies might appear while you are sleeping. Before sleeping if you still have healing magic’s use it to your characters. It is also a good idea to summon creatures and place them around the party before sleeping.
13. Use thief to scout unknown areas always use detect traps ability or detect traps of mages.
14. Trolls are quite strong you'll need to use fire arrows or acid arrows while trolls are knockdown or else they may get up.
15. Use far seeing to see if there are enemies on guard, if you see some use tangle or web magic so they can't get to you then use cloud kill or other same kind of magic. Finish them off by using projectile weapons.
16. Use summoned creatures as decoy them bombard enemies with missile weapons. It is also a good idea to use haze so you can move away fast or keep your distance to your enemies.
17. Somewhere in the dock district is a dwarf name Cromwell that can forge broken weapons.
18. You can almost kill every people in town without losing reputation. Use cleric magic charm or domination on the person, when the magic wears out the person will turn hostile and attack you then you can kill it without losing reputation.
19. Cast haste when ever you can to improve reaction time because in BG2 you miss your target more often than hitting it.
20. Thou in normal mode characters can be revive there are certain exemptions, if hit by a stone curse and hit by another offensive magic characters body will be shattered killing it instantly without a body character cannot be revive. I don't know if this is a bug in the game because in normal mode dead characters cannot die permanently.
21. Base of operation - In Baldur's gate 2 you'll need to search for a place to stash your gear. I think one of the you should take a look at is Cooper coronet, it has a wide open space, a merchant, a stash, a place to rest, and more importantly this is the place where your party members stays.

Problem: When Configuring EPSXe 1.6.0 an alert shows saying "WNASPI32.DLL" was not found

Solution: You can search for WNASPI32.DLL on the web or check the related links to download and paste it on the same folder as the ESPXe 1.6.0.exe to solve the problem.

Problem: EPSXe 1.6.0 is too fast

Solution:

It is a common problem of EPSXE 1.6.0 the speed is too much, here some ways to reduce the speed of EPSXE 1.6.0

1. First open the Video configuration

Problem: I can't play Crono Cross because the game slows down when I use the elements.

Solution: Goto config then choose video, then configure, when the options window open look for misc check Activate special game fixes and press the ... button. Another window will appear check Short DMA check then Ok.

Problem: I reach the point of the game when Serge when to the past to save Kid but the screen only shows a portion of the video and the rest is black.

Solution: There is a way for this first go to config then choose video then change the plugin to Pete's soft driver 1.46.

Problem: The names of the elements flicker and sometimes do not show.

Solution: I seems there no solution to this but In Disk 2 the problem is already fix.
Tip: When choosing an element it is highlighted and the information shows at the top of the screen.

Problem: I receive and error with a file "Zlib1.dll"

Solution: Your missing the file "Zlib1.dll". Download the file and copy it to the directory of EPSXE 1.7.0

2. There were complaints about an error message popping up after the players installed FF8. On the patch there is a new EAX file.

3. There was a menu bug in which Square QA found while testing the patch. When the player receives the "Pet Pals Vol. 1", on the train to Timber, at this point the player has not yet met Rinoa nor her dog Angelo. In the magazine there is a reference to "Angelo Strike". The bug was due to the fact that the player had not met Rinoa yet and so instead of the magazine reading "Angelo Strike" it read "No MEM CA". --Addressed and fixed.

4. There was a crash issue when the player had Direct X 7.0 installed and tried to play the game with the Yamaha Software Synth. Whenever the player would finish a battle the game would crash to desktop. --Addressed and Fixed.

*Note* The file needed to correct this issue is available in a separate download.

5. There were multiple complaints about the Nvidia GeForce having texel problems.
--Addressed and Fixed.

*NOTE* GeForce users should make sure the downloaded the correct patch. It is named "FF8SqeaNVPatch.zip". Non-GeForce owners should download the patch named "FF8SqeaPatch.zip".

6. The player's cards for the card game, in some instances, would disappear. --Addressed and Fixed on patch v1.2

7. In some cases after a battle, where all the player's party members are killed, the game will crash at the 'Game Over' screen. --Addressed and Fixed on latest patch v1.2


Patch Installation:
-------------------

The patch is in .zip format*, extract all files directly into the Final Fantasy VIII directory (default: "C:\Program Files\Square Soft, Inc\FINAL FANTASY VIII"). Be sure that ALL files are copied over, otherwise the patch will not work properly. The files are:

EAXUnified.exe
FF8.exe

When asked if you want to overwrite existing files, click on "YES" or "YES TO ALL". After the old files are overwritten the patch is finished installing.

After extracting all files to the game directory, double-click on the file named "EAXUnified.exe" to install the EAX.dll file to your C:\Windows\System folder. This will fix the error message regarding the missing EAX.dll file. This step is not necessary unless you are encountering the "Missing EAX.dll Error".

* In order to extract a .zip file, a zip extraction utility must be used. There are many such programs available on the Internet to download.

PPF patch

This patch is use directly on the cd. To apply the PPF patch create an ISO image (Cue/BIN) with CDRWin, then apply the PPF patch with PAL4U or PPF-o-Matic, then play the patched image with Daemon Tools.

Final Fantasy Endless nova

Final Fantasy: Endless Nova is a free fan-created game by Delita Hyral X and Orochi Kasunagi in the engine RPG Maker 2000. It consists of roughly 300 maps, an arcade and a casino with working games, a new stat building system and magic system, and a trade item system allowing the player to acquire rare items.

Final Fantasy was made in 1987 by Hironubu Sakaguchi and was actually made as a farewell "present" to Square Co. Ltd. He felt that the gaming world was going in circles and that no-one wanted to take any chances with a new type of game. So he decided to quit the buisness and start a new career doing something completely different, maybe becomong a fisherman. But before he could do this he needed to prove to both himself and the rest of the world that the age of groundbreaking games was not over. He sat down and worked over a long period in secret on his last project ever. His last dream. His Final Fantasy. And so the name was created. Final Fantasy was a single man's last wish for proving that new things could still be made. And so far every single FF game has improved the gaming world in ways no-one could imagine. Every game has introduced something new in terms of graphics, gameplay, voices & music, engine... You name it, Final Fantasy has always been the first to go in new directions. And that is how it should be. The moment Hironubu Sakaguchi feels the games are copying themselves he is going to quit and become a fisherman.

Chocobo World is a handheld electronic game for the PocketStation personal game unit. Like all PocketStation games, it is stored on a PlayStationChocobo World was designed to enhance Square's console role-playing game Final Fantasy VIII. Items collected in Chocobo World, for example, can be brought back into the fictional world of Final Fantasy VIII. What the patch/update do?

This file adds difficulty levels to the game and also adds Multiplayer support for Serial connection (2 players), Modem connection (2 players) and IPX Network connections (4 Players) The file also corrects a number of graphical glitches and common gameplay problems, including crashes in the middle of a game.

I have the patch but the game is still failing to work correctly.

See the DirectX question if you are running the game from Windows 95. If you are running the game from DOS then make sure you are running the game with a boot disk and see below if there are still problems.

I have the Demo of the game and I am trying to run it but I get a message about Heap Error or Reason code2.

This is due to unzipping the demo file without keeping the directory structure intact. If you are using PKUNZIP then add a space and a '-d' (minus d) to the end of the PKUNZIP command. If you are using WINZIP then click the 'Use Folder Names' box before extracting the files.

I have the Demo of the game and I am trying to run it in Windows 95, I keep getting errors about DirectX, DirectDraw/Video or DirectSound/Audio.

To run the game in Windows 95 you need to use DirectX 3a drivers. The full version of the game has these on the CD but due to their size they can not be included in the Demo version. Any other game that uses DirectX 3a will have installed these drivers already but if you do not have them you will need to try the DOS version of the Demo.

When I install the game I am told I do not have enough hard drive space when I have enough!

This occurs on some PC configurations when trying to install to another hard drive then C: To solve this problem you will need to install to C: drive or request the new Install program batch file. Send an Email to UK-CS@EA.COM asking for the new install program for Theme Hospital and this will be sent to you within one working day.

When I run the game from DOS I am being told I need to insert the games CD, it is already in the CDROM drive!

This is due to the CDROM drivers not being loaded in DOS. If they are not loaded the game can not access the CDROM drive at all. For help on loading these drivers see the Dos Mode Icon Email in AUTOHELP or make a boot disk as described in the games manual.

When I install the game in Windows 95 and then try to run it the game it crashes straight away sometimes with an error about DirectDraw or DirectSound.

This is due to the drivers you are running on your PC not being compatible with DirectX. See the DIRECTX Email in AUTOHELP for a full description of DirectX and how to overcome this problem.

When playing the game through Windows 95 it crashes at the end of a level.

Try the patch first, see the section above on finding and installing this. If the game still crashes then see the DIRECTX help from AUTOHELP as this will help you track down the drivers on your PC that are causing this problem. You can also try running the DOS version of the game as this does not use the DirectX drivers that may be causing this crash.

When I quit the game in Windows 95 I get a KERNEL error or I get told that an Illegal Operation has occurred.

This error is just the game being unable to quit correctly and restore your Windows 95 desktop perfectly. It does not do any permanent damage to the game or Windows 95 and once your machine has been restarted your desktop will be fully restored.

When playing the game a machine has blown up and I can't use the room it was in anymore.

This is because the explosion of the machine has wrecked the whole room. Try the level again and make sure the machines in your hospital are maintained by the HandyMen that you employ and that they are fixed and updated very often.

I can't reload a saved game I made when I last ran the game.

This is because you are using a different Nickname when you re-loaded the game. Always use the same Nickname and you will be able to reload your saved games correctly.

Use this technique to translate Chinese character from picture files. I tried this technique to translate a manga comics. This is very useful if you don't know anything about Chinese characters.

Download the demo of Njstar pen and Njstar word from its website.

* Open the picture containing the Chinese character using Fax viewer
* Start Njstar pen
Note: Njstar Pen is a program that is use to write Chinese character to the screen. It is like using freehand in MS paint

* Open the picture file using Fax viewer
* Using the Njstar Pen trace the Chinese character from the picture file. To be more accurate enlarge the picture
* After tracing the Character the Njstar pen will announce the Chinese character and show a bar which contain characters nearest to what is drawn.

* Choose from the selection

* Start Njstar word and open a new document, left click on the work area and choose paste
* The character can now be translated to English using Njstar word translate function.

Tips
Some translator are better than others if not satisfied with Njstar word translation use MS word translation function (Needs the IME installed)

If the translator is only compatible with alphabets use Njstar word to translate Chinese character into letters

IF the translator is compatible with Chinese characters it can be paste directly.
